Monday, 9 July 2012 - Sevilla, España
Went to the Catedral today, and climbed the Giralda Tower. To climb the tower, it is 34 levels, then 17 additional steps to get to the top of the tower, but oh the views.
The Catedral is beautiful, and huge, and massive, and ostentatious, and all things to excess.
This cathedral is the third largest church on Europe, the largest Gothic church in the world and took 120 years to complete, it measures 126.18 m x 82.60m x 30.48m high. It contains the tomb and remains of Cristobal Columbus. And, It has Spain's most valuable crown containing the world's largest pearl.
We then walked over to the Alcazar, and decided to go for lunch instead. Then we walked over to Plaza Nueva because it is supposed to be a shopping haven, and of course we got there during closed hours.
We then strolled along the river towards the bus station at Plaza de Armas. We've decided to get the 3pm bus to Lisboa, Portugal. So we bought our tickets.
We also checked on our tickets to SantiPonce for in the morning. So 10:30 check out of hotel, drop our bags at bus station, 11am bus to SantiPonce, 1:30 bus back to bus station, 3pm bus to Lisbon, arriving Lisbon about midnight.
We strolled about Seville a bit, then stopped for Lebanese food for dinner, and now it is 10:30 pm and we are repacking for our trip out tomorrow.
Not much time to see or get a feel for Sevilla.
And what is up with the flies here, OMG, the flies here in Sevilla are a horror!
