Chamaco - a tale of terror

So last night, around 11pm I am walking home from Patti's Martini party, and No, before you ask, I did not have too many, in fact I had one glass, short pour, of white wine.

I was attacked, taken down and beaten mercilessly by the cries of this tiny little kitten voice. I struggled towards the sound knowing full well the consequences if I could actually get my hands on it and bring it home, yet I continued on.    And there it was, wedged in to the corner of a garage door of an abandoned house.   This tiny little form, mouth open as if to hiss but no sound coming forth.  As I approached it got smaller and smaller trying to hide itself in the corner.

I estimate it to be maybe 5 weeks old.  One eye is buggered, probably a slight infection.  I treated it with warm chamomile tea compresses and got it clean.  It is in relatively good shape; dirty, some fleas, but overall in good shape.

I made up my small cat carrier with a little litter tray, a towel, a bowl of water, and a bowl of dry cat food.  I don't know if it can crunch dry food, but that's what I did.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So this morning - it's still alive. The eye was crusted over and shut but I'll take the chamomile compresses to it again. I took some canned dog food and smushed it to tiny bits with a fork and offered it - it was taken, tentatively.
The kitten still backs away from me and silently hisses, but once I touch it and rub its little head it responds to the action.
So that was all the easy part - now the tough part starts, finding a home for this little chamaco.
And Yes, I'd love to keep it - But No, I can't - 3 reasons in case you are interested, and I am not sure which order of importance these are in;    I have a 15 year old cat in kidney failure, he doesn't need the stress,  I have 3 dogs, 2 of whom have already killed a kitten that came in to the yard, and TOM!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So kitten has now been to the vet, he weighs 1/2k,  he's had day 1 of a 3 day regimen of meds  for parasites.  I have drops for his eyes, we're treating both even though only presents symptoms.

I bathed him to rid him of the majority of the fleas, swabbed out his ears, and got him good and dry.  He is eating and seems overall healthy enough.

I'm afraid I wore him out with all this this morning, so here are some fotos of very tired, but playful kitty "Chamaco" who is looking for his forever loving home.

It has been positively identified that having a pet
is good for your health!

Once again friend Nancy has been gifted by her neighborhoods cat population with kittens born on her service porch.   You may remember a kitten I posted earlier this year.
    These three kittens were born the first week in August - Nancy has just removed them from their mother and is in the process of box training, identifying their sex,  and socializing them.
Oh my gosh they are cuties.

The siamese looking  with the dark ears has longish hair,
and look at those painted toes.
The smaller siamese looking has butter creme
colored tiger stripes on its sugar colored legs.

And the tiger calico is just gorgeous.

Kitten needs home - porfis

Adorable kitten needs a good home!

We've had it since Thursday - she gets along well with our dog, and would get along with our cats except thay want to hurt her.

She is in really good health and today I will get meds to rid her of any parasites.

She is eating and using the litter box when in her box.

She uses the garden when outside and doesn't go on the patio.

She is very playful and so much fun to watch.

We just can't keep her.

Like I said our cats are out to do her harm and we can't continue to keep them separated.

So, the doorbell rang, and ...

So there we were, a lovely overcast, cool, rainy morning discussing our options for the day.  Today is one of those rare days where we have nothing on the schedule until I need to leave for spanish class at 5.

So what to do on this great free day - well I want to go to this store, Pacsadeli, that sells all sorts of import food items.  I have been but not in about a year, maybe more.  Friends last night told me they carry miso, and oh do I love and miss miso.

Oh, and the Michael Jackson movie is playing, it's only here for a short run, and everyone that has seen it says we must see it as well.  I do like MJ music, but that's it.  I like it but am not crazy about it, now bring Black Sabbath or Uriah Heep to town and I'm first in line.

Well anyway, we were cleaning up a few things and the doorbell rings - Tom goes, and next thing I hear is him cursing, so up I get and hustle to see what's the fustle...

Well here's what he's upset about -

Trust me, he wasn't smiling when he was originally holding up this bag.

This is what was inside
of course by now we've dried them off, dragged out the old cat carrier, put them on a towel, and are feeding them some gound pork.  Thank goodness I had just made dog food yesterday so there is a good supply of soft wet food.

So this is the smallest of the two, this picture is fuzzy, but shows how cute it is.

Here you can see it's markings

This is kitten #2, the bigger of the two.

And here they are together, full bellies, warm and safe...but not for long....

Look at that little white point on the black kittens tail.  That's the only white we see on it!

we do not want these kittens

but I am sure someone out there will take one or both.  They seem to be maybe 4 weeks, still a bit wobbly, but agile.  Able to eat on their own, so far they haven't used the litter box, but...

We must be on a list because about a year ago someone threw, yes hurled a kitten over our front wall in a pink plastic bag.  Luckily the kitten wasn't injured and we placed it that day.  Although that placement didn't work out the kitten eventually went to another friend JT, who is taking very good care of it.
